Rochester got on the board 22 seconds into Friday’s game against Hartford and never let the Wolf Pack recover en route to a 4-0 victory at the Blue Cross Arena.
Andrew Oglevie had the opening score. Tyler Randell scored in the second period and Scott Wilson scored twice in the third for the Americans (11-3-1-2).
Andrew Hammond made 25 saves and earned the shutout for Rochester, which has won its past four games and is in first place in the North Division.
Hartford fell to 11-3-0-5 but remains in first place in the Atlantic Division.
Oglevie’s goal came off a rebound, which he fired in from the left side of Wolf Pack goalie Igor Shesterkin.
Randell’s goal came 8:47 into the second period. He went top shelf from the left side for a 2-0 Amerks lead.
Though it was still early, Rochester had complete control of the game. By the end of the second period, the Americans had outshot the visitors 29-17.
Wilson scored his first goal when he tapped in a rebounded shot from Lawrence Pilut. His second came six minutes later, a slap shot from the center of the zone.
Rochester will travel to play Binghamton at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. The team will then be off for five days before hosting Toronto on Nov. 29.
