Buffalo street gang member pleads guilty to distributing crack cocaine

A Buffalo street gang member has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to racketeering conspiracy and distribution of crack cocaine, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors said Larquon Watkins, 26, was a member of the CBL/BFL gang.

The gang, formed around 2009, sold illegal narcotics near the Towne Gardens housing complex. Members often used violence, including murder and attempted murder, intimidation and threats, to defend their territory against rivals, prosecutors said.

On several occasions between 2010 and 2012, prosecutors said, Watkins was stopped by Buffalo police and found in possession of marijuana. Between 2015 and 2016, Watkins sold crack cocaine and heroin at least 10 times each in the Towne Gardens, to an individual working with police.

Watkins faces a maximum of 20 years in prison when he is sentenced April 3.
