State Police have teen in custody, after two found dead in Allegany County fire

State Police announced that they have a suspect in custody in connection with a suspicious fire in which two dead bodies were found Thursday in an Allegany County residence.

Although police have released the name of the underage suspect, no charges have yet been filed against the individual in custody.

Troopers were called to a fire at 8472 Courtney Hollow Road, in Clarksville, at about 12:45 a.m., State Police said in a news release.

Police released few additional details but said later Thursday morning that they had been looking to question a 17-year-old Clarksville resident who was spotted at the fire scene but left before troopers arrived. Police said he was identified on the scene while the fire was being extinguished and then left the location prior to the arrival of State Police on the scene.

Journalists on the scene were reporting that the teen was spotted in the woods near Barber Road in Clarksville and police were converging on the area. State Police told reporters in Clarksville that the fire took place at the teen's home.

In a Facebook post, Cuba Police asked residents to shelter in place, and not to answer their doors, urging residents take extra caution if they do have to leave their homes.

Portville, Cuba Rushford and Bolivar-Richburg schools were closed today.
