For the first time, FeedMore WNY has expanded its home-delivered meal program into Niagara County, with service beginning in Lockport, where last month it took over the territory formerly served by Lockport Meals on Wheels.
FeedMore was formed in February by a merger of the Food Bank of Western New York and Meals on Wheels of Western New York. Lockport Meals on Wheels has now joined forces with FeedMore, which estimated that it will serve 7,000 meals a year in Lockport. That adds to its 2018 total of 867,000 meals delivered in Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.
"This expansion will benefit clients, as they will be able to take advantage of our six specialized diets and our team of registered dietitians who are dedicated to improving the health of our clients," said Tara A. Ellis, president and CEO of FeedMore WNY. The regional group also offers emergency food kits, pet food and angel card and birthday gift programs.
