City of Tonawanda Police investigating armed robbery of gas station

City of Tonawanda Police are investigating an early-morning robbery of a Sunoco gas station and convenience store in the 400 block of Delaware Street.

The robbery was reported to have occurred at about 1 a.m. Wednesday, when a man entered the store and demanded the clerk on duty give him money, police said.

The individual did not display a weapon, but reached over the counter and took the drawer from the cash register before fleeing the store.

A police K-9 dog tracked the individual's scent for two blocks before the scent was lost. Detectives have not yet calculated how much cash was taken from the store.

The suspect was described as a 6-foot man, wearing a gray bandana around his face and dressed in dark jeans.
