Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz has a 54% to 46% lead over Republican challenger Lynne Dixon with 89 percent of the vote counted.
Erie County posted its early voting results at 9:50 p.m., about 45 minutes after Niagara County did and 35 minutes after Erie County's Board of Elections said it planned to post them.
Erie County Democratic Elections Commissioner Jeremy Zellner said that results in Erie County are always more or less posted as late as they were tonight. “This is nothing new,” he said.
Niagara County posted its early voting results at about 9:05 p.m.
Erie County reported one of the highest early voting turnouts in the state, with slightly more than 4% of eligible voters casting ballots from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3.
With 37 early voting sites, Erie County had the most early voting sites in the state and the highest early voter turnout among the 10 largest counties in New York.
Early turnout in Erie County varied greatly from town to town, from low of about 2% in Buffalo, Cheektowaga and the Town of Tonawanda to more than 8% in outlying areas such as Elma, Sardinia and Marilla.
