Delaware North temporarily expands HQ to 500 Pearl

Delaware North Cos. is temporarily extending its Buffalo corporate headquarters to another new downtown building, after experiencing significant growth in its employee base in the past year.

The privately owned hospitality company has signed a one-year lease for 15,000 square feet of office space at 500 Pearl, the new 12-story mixed-use tower anchored by the Aloft Hotel and Aleron Inc.'s headquarters, said spokeswoman Victoria Hong.

She said a number of employees will start moving there in January, freeing up space at Delaware North's headquarters building at 250 Delaware Ave., where the workforce has grown 20% in the past 12 months. That temporary shift will give the company time to reconfigure its primary space "to accommodate this growth," before the employees move back, she said.

The 500 Pearl building was constructed by Ellicott Development Co., on a vacant lot next to the former Buffalo Christian Center, which was incorporated into the project. The Delaware North building, which includes the Westin Buffalo Hotel, was built by Uniland Development Co.
