Calling Niagara Falls Police to report a stolen vehicle is a routine that a DeVeaux-area man knows only too well. When he called again on Friday, it was the sixth time in the past seven years.
The 60-year-old victim, a resident of Van Rensselaer Avenue, told police that he let a woman borrow his 2005 Ford Thursday morning, but she never came back with it. He originally called police Friday afternoon, but decided to give her more time to return the car. By 9:30 p.m. Friday, he figured he waited long enough. He filed a stolen vehicle report.
Police said that this is the sixth vehicle the man has reported stolen since 2012, the last two of them taken by the same woman involved in the latest incident. When police contacted her, she reportedly told them that the car she borrowed was stolen from her while she stopped at a service station at Niagara Falls Boulevard and 56th Street.
