A Jamestown man faces a mandatory minimum five-year prison sentence after pleading guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr. to receipt and possession of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said 34-year-old Matthew Bailer is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 20.
On July 11, 2018, the Jamestown Police Department was notified by a woman that Bailer had sexually abused her two minor children after she learned from Bailer's sister that a series of inappropriate photos had been sent on a cellphone that was used by Bailer, according to prosecutors.
Bailer was subsequently arrested on a warrant related to burglary in Missouri, prosecutors said. During a search of his cellphone, investigators recovered several hundred images of child pornography involving prepubescent and pubescent children, the U.S. Attorney's Office added.
The case was investigated by the FBI and Jamestown police.
