Letter: Gun control measures cannot be taken seriously

The types at work building the super-state hate the idea of the armed citizen. We see TV debates where the one pointing out that we already have background checks, gets shouted over.

Yearly FBI raw crime data showing that legally owned firearms of all types are rare in crime statistics, is muted year after year. The absence of investigations into traffic in already illegal street weapons around the country should be conspicuous, but escapes notice.

Gun control measures effectively put downward pressure only on legal ownership and trade, and can’t be taken seriously as anti-crime. Image makers conflate legal gun owners with crime. The National Rifle Association is targeted for accusations having nothing to do with anything it has done.
