WKBW-TV (Channel 7) has a new general manager with Buffalo roots.

Marc Jaromin has been named the vice president and general manager for WKBW and will start immediately, Dave Peterson, the vice president of local media operations for the station's owner, E.W. Scripps, announced today.

Jaromin replaces Michael Nurse, who was fired two months ago and is now the general manager of two stations in Dayton, Ohio.

In an email to the staff, Peterson wrote that Jaromin was born and raised in Buffalo and was a local sales manager at WKBW for four years when it was owned by Granite Broadcasting.

Since leaving WKBW, Jaromin has been the vice president and general manager of WROC-TV in Rochester and director of media operations for Buckeye Broadband, an Ohio-based multichannel video programming distributor.

The release added he attended Canisius College but received his degree in broadcast and mass communications at SUNY Oswego. He and his wife, Michelle, met and married in Buffalo and “are now returning to their hometown with their two daughters.”
