FIND A JOB – Learn how to prepare for Civil Service exams and public sector jobs when the Buffalo Niagara Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration holds a free workshop, “Civil Service Savvy,” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Central Library on Lafayette Square in downtown Buffalo. PERFECT SETTING – The Homewood Theater Company will stage a new mystery, “The Case of the Phantom Railroad” by Homewood director Marty Bauer, in the Williamsville Depot, 86 S. Long St., with performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and again Oct. 18 and 19. Tickets are $8, $6 seniors and students, $4 kids 12 and under. All proceeds benefit upkeep of the depot. SPOOKY STROLL – Storyteller Connie Boyd will tell tales of famous and infamous Batavians when she leads a West Side Ghost Walk on Saturday.
