East Aurora's Yoshi restaurant sets closing date

Nearly three years after opening in East Aurora, Yoshi restaurant has announced it will be closing.

Owner Samuel Marabella said that business is solid, and has improved significantly since he hired ex-wife Jennifer Marabella to run the kitchen at 33 Elm St.

Unfortunately, his business can't succeed where it is, Marabella said. "We're not comfortable in that space, and I'm not comfortable with my lease."

Yoshi will close after service Saturday, Oct. 19, he said. Until then, it'll be open 4:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 4:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Samuel Marabella said he has a restaurant's worth of equipment, and he has to decide to sell it, or store it for his next place.

Marabella said he was exploring the possibility of continuing Yoshi at another address in East Aurora, Buffalo, or elsewhere. He's talking to potential investors, and if he can find one to work with, Marabella said, it would make his decision easier.

Jennifer Marabella said she was thankful for the opportunity at Yoshi, and is "weighing her options" while considering what her next step will be. "The universe just has a new path for me."
