BRING THE KIDS – Niagara University will begin “Books, Balls and Blocks,” a series of free fall and Halloween-themed educational programs for children 4 months to 6 years old, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the NU Family Literacy Center in the Academic Complex. There will be pizza, refreshments and book giveaways, as well as games, art activities and stories, plus developmental and early literacy screenings.

DOWN THE TRACKS – Retired railroad man Devan Lawton will talk about his 45-year career with the Erie Lackawanna, Conrail and CSX railroads at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Fall Speaker Series at the Black Rock Historical Society, 1902 Niagara St. He also will bring photos and railroad artifacts.
