The chairman of the Niagara County Legislature has urged Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corp. to release the list of names of people who have used the luxury boxes the agency leases at Buffalo Bills and Sabres games.
Chairman W. Keith McNall has sent a letter to WROTB President and CEO Henry F. Wojtaszek, calling on him to release the names. The Erie County Legislature has made a similar request of the agency, which is being investigated by the FBI and a federal grand jury and audited by the State Comptroller's Office.
In May, the Republican-controlled Niagara Legislature voted down a Democratic request to sue OTB to obtain the names.
OTB, which plans to give away 1,500 tickets a year to players at its Batavia Downs casino, has denied Freedom of Information Law requests from The Buffalo News and other media organizations, saying a release of the names of the ticket users would violate the users' privacy.
