Workshop to focus on problems facing urban Buffalo

The health and safety risks faced by people living in dense urban areas will be the subject of a workshop that begins at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Frank E. Merriweather Jr. Library, 1324 Jefferson Ave.

Workshop presenters will discus harmful foods allegedly being sold in predominantly black neighborhoods, brownfields, lead-tainted water, human trafficking and the presence of cheap, illegal guns.

Presenters range from Kelly Galloway, who founded Mona's House as Buffalo's first home for human trafficking victims, to Betty Jean Grant, founder of We Are Women Warriors and a former Common Council member and Erie County legislator. The speakers will present potential solutions and discuss a community call to action.
