A Florida man was arrested Sunday after allegedly assaulting three people in the New Era Field parking lot following the Buffalo Bills' loss to the New England Patriots, the Erie County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.
Kervin Lopez, 35, was charged with third-degree assault and third-degree attempted assault, both misdemeanors, after Air-1, the Erie County Sheriff's helicopter, helped locate him.
Deputies said they responded at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday to parking lot No. 4 at New Era Field for individuals who needed medical attention following an attack. Victims told deputies that Lopez punched the hood of a vehicle as well as multiple people, one of whom lost consciousness.
Deputies said Lopez fled the scene through private parking lots. The victims gave a description of Lopez, who was wearing a blue tank top and a blue wig. Air-1 was able to then find Lopez at an establishment at Abbott Road and Southwestern Boulevard. Multiple deputies were dispatched to the location and detained Lopez, who was identified by a victim, and Lopez was arrested.
Lopez was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment in Orchard Park Town Court; he was released without bail following his court appearance.
The victim who lost consciousness was transported to Erie County Medical Center for treatment and was later released. Two victims were evaluated and treated by emergency personnel at the scene.
