Good golly, Miss Molly! Competitive eater sets new record for pumpkin pies

Molly Schuyler has done it again.

The rail-thin competitive eater from Maryland noshed her way to her sixth straight victory Saturday in the World Hands-Free Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence.

In scarfing down 50 pieces of pie in 10 minutes, she also broke the previous record of 48 for the event, which she set in 2017. She won a $1,000 first prize plus a $500 bonus for breaking the record.

She defeated eight other competitors, four of them from Western New York. The runner-up, Joel Hanson, of Hamilton, Ont., ate 41 pieces of pie. Finishing third was Dan Kennedy of West Decatur, Pa., who polished off 39 pieces.
