2 arrested after gun, drugs found during Amherst traffic stop

Two Rochester residents were sent to the Erie County Holding Center after their arrest Friday evening at a traffic checkpoint in the 2000 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard, Amherst police reported.

According to the report, a 28-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, whose names were not given, said they were headed to Frightworld nearby.

They were charged in Amherst Town Court after police searched their 2013 Jeep and found a loaded 9 mm handgun and a large quantity of crack cocaine, according to the report.

Officers searched the Jeep after they detected a strong odor of marijuana when they stopped the vehicle, the report said.
