Aug. 28 – Safe Harbor Open Bass League one-day contest out of Safe Harbor Marina, Buffalo, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. $40 for one or two person teams. Best three fish. Pay at the launch.

Aug. 30 – Summer Night Hike and Campfire from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Beaver Meadow Audubon Preserve in North Java. Preregistration required. Cost is $5. Call 585-457-3228.

Aug. 30 – "Fry"Day Fishing with the Erie County park rangers held at various locations around the county starting at 6 p.m. Limited to 15 kids. For kids 4 to 14 and parents must stay on-site. Sept. 2 – Final day, Lake Ontario Counties Fall Trout and Salmon Derby ending at 1 p.m. Awards ceremony at 4 p.m. at Capt. Jack’s, Sodus Point in Wayne County. Top two places plus grand prize winners should bring their fish and arrive by 3 p.m.
