PICK OF THE CROP – The Hamburg House and Garden Club will hold its annual picnic at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Scoby Hill, Springville. There will be a mini-flower show for members to display a single annual or perennial flower or a picnic theme arrangement from their own gardens.

AT LONG LAST – Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame member Fran Lucca, now 93, has achieved his long-standing dream of publishing a book he wrote back in the 1960s.
“Escape to Nowhere” is the true story of Ron Reynolds, a Buffalo resident with a big case of wanderlust who enlisted in the French Foreign Legion for five years at age of 19, experienced terrible brutality and subsequently became the only American ever to escape. SING OUT – The Lutheran Chorale of the Niagara Frontier, an ecumenical choir, invites singers with experience in church or high school choruses to an informal open rehearsal Tuesday evening in St. Luke Lutheran Church, 900 Maryvale Drive at Union Road, Cheektowaga.
A light meal at 6 p.m. will be followed by a conversation with the director, Isaac Hutton, and singing of some of the choir’s repertoire. Formal rehearsals will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 in St. Luke Lutheran Church. For more info, visit thelutheranchoraleoftheniagarafrontier.com.
