A Jamestown man who had several outstanding warrants was arrested on multiple charges early Wednesday morning. A traffic stop was initiated because he was riding a bicycle with no lights, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Officers said Ashton L. Weinert, 28, was riding a bicycle eastbound on Cole Avenue with no lights when they "conducted a traffic stop on the bicycle," according to a press release.
Officers said Weinert twice gave a false name, and an investigation showed that he had outstanding warrants out of Jamestown as well as the Town of Ellicott in addition to a parole violation from Arizona Department of Corrections. He also was in possession of methamphetamine.
Weinert was charged with fugitive from justice, false personation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and no lights on bicycle.
Weinert was transported to the Jamestown City Jail without incident. He is being held pending arraignment through Jamestown City Court on his multiple warrants.
