A Delaware North executive and longtime legislative aide was appointed to a vacancy on the Tonawanda Town Board Monday.
The other members of the all-Democratic Town Board named Shannon Patch to replace Lisa Chimera, who resigned her seat to join the Erie County Legislature.
Patch is the endorsed Democratic candidate for November's special election to serve the final two years of Chimera's term on the Town Board.
Her opponent is Republican Gigi Grizanti, president and chief executive officer of the Western New York Veterans Housing Coalition.
Patch, 34, is Delaware North's director of government affairs. She is a former regional director for Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and a former chief of staff to State Sen. Tim Kennedy, D-Buffalo.
Patch's husband, Christopher, and daughter, Caroline, witnessed her swearing-in Monday. Afterward, she said her priorities included attracting businesses and young families to the town, improving services without raising taxes, investing in critical infrastructure and protecting the environment.
