Authorities try to identify body recovered from Niagara River

The body of a male was recovered Wednesday morning from the Niagara River by the New York State Park Police, according to Capt. Chris Roller.

The body, which has not yet been identified, was recovered near the water intakes in Niagara Falls. The Niagara County Sheriff's Department received a call about the body at 7:20 a.m.; the New York State Park Police used their rescue boat to retrieve the body, Roller said.

An investigation is ongoing as authorities are in the process of trying to identify the man, Roller said.
