The Magdalene Project, a faith-based charity that assists the poor of Niagara Falls, will hold a "Back to School Bash" from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday in its headquarters at 1910 Falls St.
The event, aimed at ages 4 to 14, will include lunch and snacks, provided by local businesses, including pizza, hot dogs, macaroni, chips, cold drinks, cotton candy, popcorn and sno-cones.
At the end of the day, up 400 backpacks containing school supplies will be given away, and Magdalene Project founder and director Joanne Lorenzo will provide an inspirational message.
Entertainment will include a two-lane slip-and-slide, a bounce house, games, face painting and music. Wild Kritters of Niagara County will show off animals, Salon Diaz will offer haircuts and Mickey Mouse and Goofy are scheduled to attend. There will be a bingo tent for adults.
The Niagara Falls police command van and the fire department will also be present. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit will offer a demonstration at 2:15, and juggler Nels Ross will perform at 2:45.
