SomaDetect raises $2 million in seed funding

SomaDetect, the dairy farm data company that won the 43North competition two years ago, has raised $2 million in new funding as it expands its operations to more dairy farms across New York and Canada.

The latest funding came from a group that included the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, the Western New York Impact Investment Fund and New York Ventures.

The company, founded in New Brunswick in 2016, has developed sensor technology to help dairy farmers analyze the quality of their herd's milk and monitor the health of individual cows.

SomaDetect, which has 25 employees, has installed its system at 12 farms in Ontario, New York and Atlantic Canada to collect data and build tools that will provide farmers with useful data about their farms.
