Emergency demolition requested after fire in Valley neighborhood

Emergency demolition has been requested for a 2 1/2-story wood-frame home in Buffalo’s Valley neighborhood following a fire Monday, according to city fire dispatchers.

Dispatchers said that fire officials estimated damage at $100,000 to the building and $5,000 to the contents. Dispatchers confirmed reports that the house was vacant and was undergoing partial renovation.

Firefighters who responded to the building at 4 Harvey Place, off South Park Avenue, at about 5:30 p.m. encountered heavy smoke and fire on the second floor, dispatchers said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause was under investigation.
