Longtime Elmwood Italian American restaurant Vino's has closed

After 13 years of selling meatballs and pasta con sarde to the masses, Vino's has closed.

The converted tavern at 1652 Elmwood Ave. was operated by Kathleen and Tony Cangianiello, who got into the restaurant business there after selling used cars in a lot next door.

The husband-and-wife team made devoted fans during their tenure, and the photograph-lined room was often full. The Vino's motto, "Welcome to our family," was printed on the menu.

Pictures have been taken down from the dining room walls, and the restaurant's phone number has been disconnected.
