A Maryland man was charged Monday night with gun possession after Lancaster police said they found a loaded handgun in his vehicle parked outside Walmart.
An officer investigating a suspicious vehicle at about 10 p.m. in the parking lot of Walmart, 4975 Transit Road, discovered the vehicle's license plates were expired and did not match the vehicle.
Micah Harris, 29, who returned to the vehicle from inside the store after the officer arrived, was initially charged with giving police a false name and several vehicle and traffic violations, Lancaster police said.
Lancaster police reported finding the .40-caliber firearm during a search of a vehicle and Harris was additionally charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, according to police.
Harris remained in custody Wednesday morning at the Erie County Holding Center.
