Name: Yolanda Fields, 43.
Who she is: Chairwoman of Garden Walk Buffalo, with which she has been involved for 12 years – including seven as a headquarters manager. The Buffalo native, vice president in the commercial lending department at a local bank, graduated from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts and attended Spelman College in Atlanta. She volunteers at Grace Tabernacle-Church of God in Christ, working with youth ministry groups. She loves quilting and sewing. As a teen, she taught herself how to sew from old sewing books she found at garage sales. "My mom helped me, too," she said.
She also enjoys gardening. Of course.
What she's wearing: Navy blue blazer with cream-colored polka dots and red lining she has owned for quite some time; yellow cropped palazzo pants purchased this year from Stein Mart; thick-heeled red pumps purchased online; white tank; gold watch, and simple gold hoop earrings and necklace.
What she plans to wear to the 25th annual Garden Walk Buffalo, July 27-28? Purple Garden Walk Buffalo shirt, white shorts and comfortable shoes – probably sneakers, since she will be running around and standing all day, she said.
Signature piece: "I never leave the house without earrings. The other day I thought I had forgotten them but then I found them in my pocket," she said. She had stashed them there on her way out the door.
Fashion statement: "My fashion philosophy is to always keep it simple but to always add something to give you a little bit more excitement – a little pop of color or a pop of a pattern to bring just that little bit of extra. It always keeps it nice."
Last purchase: "A gorgeous bright coral bathing suit I bought in Florida about a month ago."
In the market for: "I'm always in the market for a great pair of jeans," she said. Jeans, she added, are her weekend staple.
