Scuffle with Buffalo police ends with officer suffering cuts to neck

A Buffalo police officer suffered cuts to his neck while he and other Central District police were attempting to break up a fight and disburse a large crowd outside a Franklin Street bar early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Anyssah Johnson, 22, whose address was not available, was charged with second-degree assault after she allegedly refused to put her hands behind her back and started taking swings at police. Officer Peter Goretti suffered cuts to his neck while attempting to handcuff her, police said. His condition was unavailable.

Johnson was identified as one of several individuals involved in a fight at 2:38 a.m. outside Mes Lounge, 228 Franklin St., between West Huron and West Chippewa streets. She was also charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration.
