The injured were identified as William and Carol Kistner. Carol Kistner, 64, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, authorities confirmed. She was listed in satisfactory condition Sunday. William Kistner, 63, was treated and later released Saturday from Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.
Damage from the explosion caused the boat to snap in half and sink, according to Jack Weibel, who witnessed the incident, which occurred at about 3 p.m.
"It's a good thing the boat had pulled away from the dock or there would have been a lot more people injured," Weibel said.
The Kistners' boat was identified as a wooden 1955 Century Coronado. Hammondsport Fire Department officials declined to release details of their investigation.
Because of the explosion, the parade was canceled. At a banquet later Saturday, officials at the Wine Country Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, sponsor of the parade, acknowledged the Kistners and asked for prayers, said Weibel, a member of the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the society.
