History Center of Niagara moves annual gala, auction indoors

The History Center of Niagara has chosen an indoor location for this year's Discovery Gala & Auction, which in previous years was held outdoors.

This year's event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 in Brookside Banquet Hall, 2990 Lockport-Olcott Road, Newfane.

Entertainment will include music by the Heenan Brothers and the auctioneering of Niagara County Sheriff James R. Voutour.

Up for bids will be artwork by local artists Manning McCandlish, Jack DiMaggio and Jeff Watkins; a quilt by Stephanie Drehs; overnight stays at the Lockport Inn & Suites, the Roycroft Inn, and a hotel and dinner package to Salvatore’s Grand Hotel and Russell’s Steaks.

Golf packages, sports memorabilia from the Buffalo Bills and other local teams, and an entire Thomas Kinkade Christmas Village also will be sold.

Tickets are $50 each, or $350 for a table of eight. They can be purchased by calling the History Center at 434-7433.
