2019 Buffalo Subaru 4-Mile Chase: Schedule, road closures and more

The 39th running of the Buffalo Subaru 4-Mile Chase is Friday night.

The event, billed as "Western New York's Social Running Event of the Year" starts at 7 p.m.

The race starts and ends at Bidwell Parkway near Elmwood Avenue.

Schedule of events

11 a.m.: Registration and expo begin. Cost of registration on race day is $35. Preregistered runners can pick up numbers and T-shirts on Bidwell Parkway.

5 p.m.: Happy hour with live music.

6 p.m.: Kids race for ages 5-7, 8-10 and 11-13. To enter kids races, call 851-4615.

6:30 p.m.: Elite introductions and pre-race instructions.

7 p.m.: Race begins.

Post-race: Party featuring the Twang Gang and complimentary food and refreshments.

Road closures

  • Elmwood Avenue between West Delavan and Forest avenues will be closed between 6:30 and 7 p.m. for the start. It will reopen at 7:05 p.m.
  • Expect delays on the crossing streets on Delaware and Elmwood avenues between West Delavan and Summer Street between 7 and 8 p.m. Southbound traffic on Elmwood between Forest and Summer will be limited and there will be no northbound traffic on Elmwood between West Delavan and Summer after 7:10 until approximately 8 p.m. Buses will be rerouted on Elmwood and Delaware.

Parking

  • Recommended parking includes Lincoln and Chapin parkways, parts of Bidwell Parkway east and west of Elmwood and surrounding streets to include Bird Avenue, West Delavan, Potomac Avenue, Argyle Park and Brantford Place. There will be no parking on Elmwood between Forest and West Ferry Street from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
