Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz spent Tuesday in Washington alongside county-level political leaders from across nine states and the District of Columbia as they lobbied for their communities on infrastructure and community revitalization matters.
The Northeast State Leadership Day included panel discussions on key topics, as well as remarks from Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, White House National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow and Assistant Secretary of Education Frank Brogan.
Officials from the federal Transportation, Energy, Veterans Affairs and Housing and Urban Development departments participated, along with representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
The program was hosted by the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and held at the White House, as the third of 10 regional events. Besides New York and D.C., participants hailed from Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Vermont.
“It is my responsibility to always advocate for our residents, while at home or here in our nation’s capital," Poloncarz said.
