Unions' tentative deal with Kaleida includes pay raises

A tentative labor contract between Kaleida Health and three unions calls for three raises over the course of the agreement.

A 2% pay hike would take effect July 1, 2020, according to a summary released by Communications Workers of America Local 1168. A 1% raise would take effect Jan. 1, 2021, and a 3% raise would go into effect Aug. 1, 2021. The three-year deal covers about 7,200 workers represented by three unions.

The tentative deal also includes a ratification bonus, which workers would receive in the form of either a 4% lump sum bonus, or $750 for part-time workers and $1,250 for full-timers, whichever is higher.

The agreement also calls for adding 90 full-time equivalent employees to address unions' concerns about staffing, particularly at Buffalo General Medical Center.

Kaleida on Tuesday reached a tentative deal with CWA Local 1168, 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, and Operating Engineers Local 17. Ratification votes are set for July 24 and 25.
