Lockport's seventh annual Sweet Chalk Festival will bring chalk art to the pavement of the city parking lot at Main and Pine streets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Professional and student artists will be creating works on the asphalt, both originals and copies of famous paintings. There also will be a space for visitors and kids to take part.
The event is sponsored by the Lockport Public Arts Council, headed by Ellen Martin, who said some non-chalk works by visiting artists Craig and Elizabeth Thomas also may be displayed.
Also in Lockport Saturday and Sunday, the 16th annual Lockport in Bloom garden walk is on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The main information booth is located at the Kenan Center, 433 Locust St.
Twenty-two private gardens in the City and Town of Lockport will be open to visitors, along with gardens maintained by volunteers in seven public spaces.
