UB men's basketball opens Charleston Classic against UConn

The University at Buffalo men's basketball team will face Connecticut on the first day of the Charleston Classic in November in Charleston, S.C.

The Bulls will face UConn at either 9 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at TD Arena in Charleston, and it will be broadcast on ESPNU. The Bulls are guaranteed three games in the tournament.

This is the second date and opponent that's been confirmed on UB's 2018-2019 schedule. The Bulls will face Harvard in the James Naismith Classic on Nov. 16 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

UB and UConn are in an eight-team field in the Charleston Classic that also includes Xavier, Towson, Saint Joseph's, Miami (Fla.) and Missouri State.

This will be the ninth meeting between UConn and UB. It's the first meeting since UConn, then No. 2, defeated UB, 68-64, on Dec. 4, 2008 at Alumni Arena. The Bulls are 1-7 all-time against the Huskies.

The 2019-2020 Division I men's basketball season is scheduled to begin Nov. 5.
