Letter: Kearns, Mychajliw represent public’s interest on licenses

We are fortunate to have courageous public servants like Mickey Kearns and Stefan Mychajliw who will stand up to Gov. Andrew Cuomo to bring proper attention to a law that is counterproductive to the citizens and taxpayers in New York. That is the Green Light law that allows undocumented immigrants to get a driver’s license.

Cuomo not only desires to have felons have the right to vote, but now there is the possibility that they will also be able to do so using a driver’s license as suitable identification. It is idiocy and disastrous to do both.

The fact that the invaders are criminals just by being here should be enough of a reason to prevent them from enjoying a privilege they do not deserve. Driving a car is not a constitutional right and should not be treated as one; therefore, it is beyond reason to allow a criminal to partake in the privilege.

Mickey Kearns has filed a lawsuit against the state and he refuses to issue a license to anyone who is not here legally. Hopefully, if an undocumented immigrant tries to get one, someone who doesn’t want to get involved can contact Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw who will report the invader to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and have them arrested and possibly deported.

We should be proud to have public servants who take their title seriously and actually protect the public interest.
