A man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting two girls in 2012 was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in state prison, to be followed by 15 years of post-release supervision.
John Bussard, 33, of 63rd Street, Niagara Falls, had pleaded guilty in May to first-degree sexual abuse and attempted first-degree rape. The victims, who Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Grundy said were 6 and 7 years old at the time of the attacks, did not report the crimes to authorities until last year. Bussard was arrested July 27.
Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III imposed the sentence for both crimes and ordered them to run concurrently. The legal maximum imprisonment for the crimes would have been 22 years.
