New York State Parks offer free swim lessons

Free swimming lessons are being offered to up to 3,000 children this summer at 26 New York State parks.

Enrollment for the program began Monday at Fort Niagara State Park in Niagara County, Long Point State Park on Chautauqua Lake in Chautauqua County and in the Red House Area of Allegany State Park in Allegany County.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation program has helped nearly 18,000 children learn how to swim since it began in 2013, according to State Parks Commissioner Erik Kulleseid.
