Shaun Dolac, the 2018 Buffalo News football Player of the Year, said he will attend Milford Academy in New Berlin to play football next season.
“I plan to go to prep school for a semester until December or the end of November, then I can enroll in college for the second semester in January,” he said. “It was just a better opportunity for me to get recruited by bigger and better college football teams.”
Dolac was a star running back and linebacker for West Seneca East. He plans to play linebacker at Milford after finishing his varsity career with 230 tackles, including a school-record 145 in one season. He forced eight fumbles and made three interceptions.
Dolac also owns the school record for rushing yards (1,993) and total touchdowns (36). He rushed for 178 yards and two scores in the Trojans’ 21-14 loss to Cornwall in the NYSPHSAA Class A championship in November.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Dolac also earned accolades on the lacrosse field, where he recorded 97 goals and 77 assists. He was named as a U.S. Lacrosse All-American and as a member All-WNY first team this season. On June 24, Dolac was presented with the Borrelli Award as the top boys lacrosse player in Western New York.
Milford Academy’s football team finished with a 10-2 record last season and has produced a host of NFL talent, including the Buffalo Bills’ LeSean McCoy.
