NEWLIN, Evy Magnusson

NEWLIN - Evy Magnusson 92, was called Home on the morning of May 27. She was predeceased by her husband, Lyman Newlin; She is survived by her sons, Fred and Erik, many relatives, and countless friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and spirit. Born in Sweden, she immigrated to the USA by herself at the age of 22 moving to Lewiston with her family in 1981. In the US, she became an avid hiker, equestrian, and mountain climber. She was the only woman in her party to summit the Grand Tetons, in 1963. Her many interests included wildlife, painting, kayaking, photography, astronomy, skiing and cycling. Evy will be fondly remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, zest for life, and concern for people and animals. She passed these traits on to her sons Erik, who volunteered at the SPCA and studied at Cornell Veterinary College, and Fred, who served as the Town Supervisor of Lewiston. A memorial service will be held at Lewiston's Lutheran Church of the Messiah, Saturday, June 29th, at 10:30 am. All are welcome.
