VANCOUVER -- The Sabres didn't have a fifth-round pick after sending it to Detroit in 2017 to acquire winger Scott Wilson but reacquired one Saturday in Rogers Arena through another trade with the Red Wings.
The Sabres sent picks 177 and 191 back to the Red Wings for No. 143 and then used that pick to select Swedish winger Filip Cederqvist of the Vaxjo Lakers.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Cederqvist had 14 goals and 18 assists in 26 games last season. He is the 119th-ranked European skater by NHL Central Scouting.
The move leaves the Sabres with one remaining pick, No. 160. It is the sixth pick of Round 6. They will not have a seventh-rounder unless they make another trade.
