A Grand Island woman who attempted to have sex with a child who was less than 11 years old on multiple occasions was sentenced Monday to 11 years in prison, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case also sentenced 29-year-old Courtney McDonell to 12 years of post-release supervision and required her to register as a sex offender upon her release from prison. In addition, Case issued a 30-years' long order of protection on behalf of the victim.
On Nov. 20, McDonell pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree attempted course of sexual conduct against a child, a violent felony.
McDonell's co-defendant in the case, Jacob Beach, 26, of Grand Island, was previously sentenced to 18 years in prison and 25 years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to the same charge. Beach, too, will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
