Police tracking down thieves who took equipment from bar undergoing renovation

Town of Lewiston Police reported that they are on the trail of thieves who stole several pieces of bar and restaurant equipment recently from an Upper Mountain Road business that is undergoing extensive renovation.

The owners had removed all the kitchen and bar equipment and placed it on the side of the building while renovation work, including the installation of new tile floors, was completed. On the morning of May 22, security cameras on the property recorded a vehicle pulling up to the business and a white male in his 50s exiting to look over the equipment. He proceeded to partially dismantle some of the items so that they could be more easily placed inside his vehicle, police said.

Police said that a white female, also in her 50s, then assisted the man in loading a bar cooler and several other stainless steel appliances, including a sink and ice bin, into the vehicle. A pair of coolers, a two-bay model and a three-bay model, were also reported stolen. The value of the stolen merchandise was not reported.

Police said that the license plate on the vehicle was traced to a Lockport woman who, when investigators checked mugshots, resembled the woman seen on the video. Police also obtained a tentative identification on the male suspect and are continuing to investigate.
