Motorcyclist seriously injured after striking deer in Cambria

A motorcyclist who struck a deer early Wednesday morning in Cambria is in serious condition in Erie County Medical Center, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called at about 12:30 a.m. for the report of a crash on Plank Road, between Ridge and Van Dusen roads.

The motorcyclist, whose name was not released by the Sheriff's Office pending notification of family members, was found unconscious on the shoulder of the road, the office said in a news release. He was treated at the scene by members of the Cambria Fire Co. and transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC.

The Sheriff's Office's Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
