A two-run home run from Andy Burns in the fourth inning was all the offense Buffalo needed in a 3-1 victory over Lehigh Valley at Sahlen Field Friday night.
The Bisons improved to 26-33 while the IronPigs dropped to .500 overall at 29-29.
Burns’ blast was set up when Richard Urena drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the inning. He scored on the next Bisons’ at-bat when Reese McGuire doubled to center field.
Burns took a ball down low to open his at-bat before he clobbered the next pitch over the 404-foot fence in center field for a 3-0 Buffalo lead.
Sean Reid-Foley earned his third win in arguably his best start of the season. He pitched seven scoreless innings, struck out six and only allowed two hits. It was the first time this season that Reid-Foley did not give up a run; his ERA is now 5.72.
Tom Eshelman was tagged with the loss for Lehigh Valley. He pitched a complete game, struck out five and walked one.
The IronPigs’ lone run came in the eighth inning when they rattled off three straight hits to score catcher Rob Brantley.
Buffalo will try for its third straight win Saturday at 6:05 p.m. as the three-game series with Lehigh Valley continues.
The team will host the annual Star Wars Night at Sahlen Field, and gates will open at 4 p.m.
