Performing Arts to host performance of 'Go, Tell Michelle'

Students from the Buffalo Academy of Visual & Performing Arts will present a production of "Go, Tell Michelle: African American Women Speak to the First Lady," at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the school's theater at 450 Masten Ave.

The play, written by University at Buffalo professor Robert Knopf, is adapted from the book "Go, Tell Michelle: African American Women Write to the New First Lady," edited by Barbara Seals Nevergold and Peggy Brooks-Bertram, and published in 2009.

The book — a collection of letters written by African American women to Michelle Obama — received the Letitia Woods Brown Memorial Award from the Association of Black Women Historians.

Tickets for the play are $6 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
