Jackie Rogowicz completed the best round of anyone in the Women’s Porter Cup to take a two-stroke lead into the final round today.
Rogowicz finished with a six-under round of 66 on Thursday, lowering her score to 7-under 137 for the two days.
Rogowicz birdied the final four holes at Niagara Falls Country Club to take the lead from Mary Parsons. Parsons finished 3-under-par in Round 1 but took a step back Thursday finishing at 1-over 73 for a two-day total of 142. She sits tied for fourth with Brigitte Thibault at 2-under.
Sanctuary Cove, Australia native Isabelle Taylor finds herself in second place again.
Taylor has gone two-under and three-under and now holds sole possession of second at 5-under 139. She was tied with Thibault Wednesday.
Chelsea Dantonio from East Aurora is the top local golfer, tied for 26th at 7-over 151 through two rounds.
The 54-hole tournament will conclude today beginning at 8 a.m. No golfers in the field of 72 are being cut with one withdrawing.
Miosi wins in playoff
John Miosi won the 2019 Buffalo District Golf Association Senior Championship at Park Country Club Thursday. Miosi defeated Mike Bedard on the first hole of a playoff with a birdie after the two tied at even-par with 71.
Paul Hoffstetter won the Legends division by one stroke with 73 and Doug Vergith won the Masters division at 70.
